Biography

One of the most sought-after concert violinist and play-director, Razvan Stoica has taken the classical music world by storm in recent years through his combination of thrilling virtuosity, depth of expression and adventurous programmes. A natural musical leader with strong vision and clarity, Razvan possesses a unique mixture of remarkable personal charisma, an abundance of energy, enthusiasm and fierce intelligence.

As a winner of the Stradivarius Prize and E.BU Violin Competition, Razvan’s eclectic concert diary includes regular engagements as a soloist and conductor. So far he worked with orchestras such as the West-Deutsche Philharmonie, SWR Orchester Stuttgart, Het Gelders Orkest, Oltenia Philharmonic, „George Enescu” Philharmonic, Orchestre de l’Opera National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, National Radio Bratislava Orchestra, Bucharest Radio Symphony, Kronstadt Philharmonic, Ploiesti Philharmonic, Translivania Orchestra, Nationaal Netherlands Symphonie Orkest, Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, Krakow Philharmonic, WDR Sinfonieorchester.

Razvan’s variety of styles and interests is also displayed in his recording albums featuring the „24 Caprices” by N. Paganini, „Capriccioso” with his lifetime chamber music partner, concert pianist Andreea Stoica, Lalo & Saint-Saens’ Violin Concertos with Beethoven Academy Orchestra or “Strad Style”, his last CD produced by Universal Music Label. He played in all major halls of the world including „Concertgebouw” Amsterdam, „Disney Hall” Los Angeles, „Konzerthaus” Berlin, „Théâtre des Champs Élysées” Paris, „Atheneum hall” Bucharest.

As a chamber musician Razvan is often touring in Europe and abroad with Andreea Stoica as pianist. They established „Duo Stoica” in 1996 and they are always receiving excellent reviews and stir big applause on the ecstatic audiences. The two siblings impress their public with a perfect dialogue that is never on disagreement. Hearing the two musicians together is like listening to one sole instrument with two complementary colours.

Razvan Stoica plays on a 1729 Antonius Stradivarius Ex-Ernst violin.
